Plans aways seem to change

The laundry is still untidy and unclean! I did get up and get dressed and got moving and cleaned and tidied the kitchen, but then I was asked out to lunch by my Mum. Who can resist an lunch invite, especially when it is from your mum!! So instead of cleaning the laundry I decided it could wait til another day but my Mum could not. I seized the day.

We had a nice lunch at the local nursery cafe and wondered around looking at the plants -but I bought nothing! Very proud of myself!!

I an very happy to report though that the kitchen is still tidy with a clean sink 4 days later. A good achievement if I do say so myself. I have told all of the family of my new expectations in the kitchen ans that I expect to wake to a clean kitchen every morning, so if they dirty it after I have gone to bed they clean it! So far so good. Tommorrow I intend to :
-Get up and get dressed
-Clean up the kitchen
-Do a load of laundry
-Tidy up the lounge room
-Take a load of clothes to the Op Shop
-Have morning tea with my Mum.

Lets see how that goes! Then of course it is back to work tomorrow night !

I pray you all have a safe and happy week!

A few goals for tomorrow

I have done it again.... I slept all day instead of a few hours and now it is 1am and I am wide awake. So I have been thinking about what I would like to achieve tomorrow.

I have been reading Flylady's blog about decluttering the home and realising what she says is true - it didn't get cluttered and dirty in a day so it wont get cleaned and sorted in a day! Allowing myself to realise this makes it easier to deal with. So I thought I would set a few goals for tomorrow and then go to bed and read which might make me tired!!

Thursday goals
- Tidy the kitchen
- Clean out the laundry
(It is only a small room so it shouldn't take long)
- Have lunch outside in the fresh air in my garden
- Do some sewing for fun
- Cook dinner from scratch
(I do this most nights but it sounds good to say it out loud!!)
- Go to my Patchwork class in the evening.

Hopefully I will wake feeling good and even if I don't I will get up and get dressed and get moving as I now have a plan.

I think we can expect too much from ourselves sometimes and when we don't achieve it all we beat ourselves up over it - well I know I do, but I think it is time to be kind to myself. I don't like to think that I have to spend all day working in my home as I want to enjoy my time on my days off. I feel it makes me a better person to spend some time doing things I enjoy, creative things. And lets face it my kids deserve a happy Mum!!

Until next time friends, God bless.

Odd sleep patterns lead to....

Well what you don't know about me is that I work night shift a couple of nights a week (Yes I am a nurse!). I really like my work and find it very rewaradiing but it has a down side - Odd sleep patterns. Take today for example: I got home from work at 8am and went to bed for a few hours as I am not working tonight. However, I slept for much longer thatn I intended and now I am wide awake!

The house is quiet as everyone sleeps and this lends itself to lots of sewing, but I haven't had much luck tonight. I did sew the binding onto a wallhanging quilt and  now this needs finishing, but I tried to make a block for my Quilt Block Swap partner and got my measurements all wrong, so now I have to start again. It is not a total waste I like the block I made and will use it somewhere when absolute size does not matter, such as a note book cover, but I do not enjoy the thought of a fail and then the need to repeat.
So I suppose today's lessons are that we need to keep trying til we get it right - Never give up and Measure twice - cut once!! Oh well back to the cuttingboard !!

Happy sewing and crafting all !!

Finding my way around

Saturday 4th February 2012 11.58pm

Tonight I am finally writing somethingon my new blog. It sounds a bit silly as I have had this page for a week or 2 but I didn't know what to write about.  But tonight I have been looking around and reading some other blogs, patterns and sites and WOW there are so many amazing talented and generous people out there.
I have just found out about FNSI - Friday Night Sew-In and I am really looking forward to joining in and knowing ther are gals all over the world sewing along with me!!

For tonight though I need to stop reading and looking and get back to quilting my wallhanging.

Til next time!!
 Cheers &  God bless .
